I am a huge fan of Hong Kong BBQ House in Northbridge as my previous blogpost on this place might indicate. There's something so wonderful about everything they produce - especially that fatty, sweet duck that sends me into a tailspin from first bite each and every time.
While I often find myself visiting this place for lunch, dinner isn't as common. So I thought it might be nice for me to blog about a recent dinner here which delivered great results... not that I wasn't expecting as much!
Jeremy teaches kung fu on Friday nights so I had fully intended on making us dinner for when he returned home after 9pm. However that didn't quite work out after getting a manicure and pedicure after work, laziness had definitely set in! Thankfully when he arrived home, he was happy to go back out so into Northbridge we headed, dodging the hoards of drunkards in search of our meal.
We arrive at the restaurant closer to 10pm but it's open until around 11 or 11.30pm so we get a table straight away and dive into the menu. During the day I usually gravitate to the duck noodles which I slather in chilli oil. However the dinner menu is different to the lunch, so we make the choice to order a couple shares instead.
We wash down the sweetness with sips of the jasmine tea they provide as a beverage option here. I have to admit, I'm quite picky with my tea and this place meets the mark - it removes all traces of oil from your mouth while quenching your thirst.
While we definitely didn't need a third dish, we order one anyway knowing we can take away what we don't finish. And if you're at Hong Kong BBQ, it has to be duck!
I've introduced Jeremy to this dish so we're both happy with this choice. The duck is just fatty enough; the yam starchy but in a good way. I love the crispy crunch coating on the yam side and the crispness of the duck skin on the other. The brown sauce (I have no idea what it's called!) is a great accompaniment - it compliments the meat but I prefer using my chilli oil more since here it is so yummy.
As usual I loved my meal at Hong Kong BBQ. This place is a winner for me and everyone I bring here - it's quality at a decent price. I'm back time and time again. Delicious!
Haha this is one of my favourite chinese place in town along with Hawkers. Man. Both you and chompchomp are making me salivate at work! EVILLLLLLLLL
ReplyDeleteHaha it's payback! Your blog always has me drooling and hating anything I bring with me for lunch :)
DeleteI love this place so much! My mum brought me here when I was younger and I recommend it to everyone.
