Not just bread on this Cutting Board

Working just outside of the CBD in Perth (but it's more like Northbridge) has some great advantages. There's the cheaper pay parking in some parts, access  plethora of boutiques and also the variety of food on offer. But sometimes when you're in a hurry, your dining choices can feel quite limited to the likes of sushi, croissant express or your standard lunch bar.

I've worked at my job for about 4 years now and I've never been too fussed as I'm usually pretty open to wandering into Northbridge for some pho or nachos etc... but when The Cutting Board Eathouse opened up just a couple minutes walk away, I have to admit there was a level of excitement on my behalf.

Situated on Pier Street in Northbridge, the Cutting Board is the second of this new chain with the other sitting in the ever busy St George's Terrace. It's a gorgeous layout, with a bright airy feel, windows lining the walls, wooden space combined with metal giving it that industrial warehouse type feel. There's a massive amount of room to dine in or outside, but they also offer handy take away options too.

I've gone in the morning and for lunch, and am pleased to note their offerings differ depending on the time of day. In the morning, the natural yoghurt with coconut and passionfruit pulp ($5) is an absolute winner. My colleagues tend to go for the pear & raspberry banana bread as their breakfast choice, which I have to admit is oh so tempting!

At lunch, the menu expands to something absolutely amazing. Salads of all different varieties are the popular choice, with a small take away of mixed salads being $8 and a large $10. Last week I tried the caesar (delicious with the big crunchy croutons), quinoa (light and fluffy) and the greek (that feta!). All yummy, and all really fresh which is what you'd expect for salads.

There's also a sandwich bar with ready made wraps, pitas and rolls, plus a build your own station. This sits next to the hot food area which features pulled pork and beef, glazed ham on the bone, chicken schnitzel and a rotating selection of items. I've tried the grilled cajun fish ($10 with a side salad) which was really enjoyable, whereas some people in our team have eaten the pasta and pulled beef lasagne - with extremely positive reviews!

My most recent lunch item at the Cutting Board was a Pulled Pork Pita ($9). I have to admit, it was much more delicious than I could have imagined! Succulent, juicy pork with apple sauce, loose greens and a herbed pita bread that bound it all together.

It was a great lunch, and one that definitely reinforced just why the Cutting Board is getting such rave reviews and crowds of incredible proportions flocking to it. Yum! And for a nearby venue to my work, I have to say I am so pleased at this new kid on the block.

  2. I really love this place. Have visited 2 times, had the delicious pulled pork and this week had the NY double pattie cheeseburger. So yum! Can't wait to try the southern fried chicken. Why can't they open up more awesome places like this?
