A dieter's nightmare known as Lindt Cafe

They say when in Rome, do as the Romans do. This is basically my travelling philosophy - wherever I go I look for where the locals have flocked to. In Melbourne's city centre people seen to flock to all different eateries, but on this particular occasion the crowd was at the Lindt Cafe.

Here on holidays with my best friend Carly and friend Liz, we actually sought out this little establishment since Carly swears up and down that these are the best macarons she's ever eaten before. With a statement like that I had high hopes!

It didn't disappoint at all. We sat down inside this sweet cafe with a sugar fix greatly desired, each of us ordering a drink and two macarons each.

For my drink I choose an ice chocolate which is really delicious. The milk is frothy and cold, the inside of the glass coated with a layer of Lindt milk chocolate to give it its name. It is exactly what I wanted and I'm happy slurping away. But soon enough my macarons steal my attention.

Carly gets a milk chocolate and a cherry coconut macaron. Liz chooses a hazelnut and a strawberry. But for me, this is all about a Lindt milk chocolate macaron and a salted caramel macaron.

The size of these little bites of heaven is impressive; the appearance exactly as it should be. The meringue bases have popped out and are glossy; the insides sticky and tempting. My milk chocolate macaron is decadent and oh so delicious. It actually does taste like Lindt chocolate and it elevates me to a place of pure happiness.

But even better was the salted caramel. Think thick, gooey caramel sandwiched between two yellow biscuits. The caramel is so dark it looks like chocolate and the salt inside makes it moorish and stops it being too sweet. It is the absolute standout here.

As a lover of Lindt chocolate it was no surprise I loved this place. I'm sure I'll be back to try the gorgeous desserts they have on display tempting each diner. Yum!
